Greeting weary readers,
I am happy to finally share another long overdue update on what I’ve been up to in 2026, and I would be remiss if I didn’t start it off with the unmitigated caveat that I would have more to share if it weren’t for Crimson Desert! It is an undeniable fact that there are certainly more productive ways to spend 320+ hours of one’s personal time, not the least of which would be the earlier release of my latest book, “ISTEN KARDJA: The Wizard”! But I admit that I am weak, and my obsession with distraction, procrastination, and escapism, have all combined to see me spend inordinate amounts of time engaging in the random slaughter of digital bandits, mercenaries, and wandering packs of deer and other assorted wildlife, all for the sake of building my clan and restoring the honour of the Greymanes! (That, and I managed to slip in some time to read some titles from Richard H. Stephens and Andrew LiVecchi when I wasn’t also trying to find the time to edit and publish ‘The Wizard’).
Nevertheless, the end of the summer is approaching, and I am very pleased to see the Sword Saga reach its conclusion. It is one that I have envisioned for a long time, and I hope my readers find it as entertaining to read as it was for me to imagine. While it is a conclusion of a tale, the world of Vengriya remains, enduring yet changed, presenting a wonderland of opportunities for new tales to be discovered – for histories to be discovered and futures to be unveiled – and a place I hope to revisit again soon!
For much of 2026 I have been absent from the local book fair scene – avoiding many events while I focused on my writing – and opting to invest my energy in developing my presence for the one, single event I have in my calendar for the year: the 2026 Royal Medieval Faire in Waterloo, Ontario, scheduled for Saturday, September 19th (rain or shine). With the series completed, I will be hosting fans under the banner of “The Humble Scribe”, a moniker I found to be charming and disarming when welcoming visitors at last year’s event. If you find yourself in the Waterloo Region the weekend of the 19th, I invite you to drop by this wonderful renaissance faire to experience some indulgent, period-role-playing, with dueling knights, royal intrigue, and shops & entertainment for all ages, (…and of course, me selling my books!)
